Petition To Make Nowra Creek A State Conservation Area (SCA)
The issue
Nowra Creek is a beautiful and diverse environment with dozens of different biomes and sub biomes it is also one of the few places where the Nowra Heath Myrtle resides a very rare and endangered species and is at constant risk of extinction.
The area around Nowra creek and bens walk are home to some of the most diverse biomes in the Shoalhaven region the first 1km of creek from the Shoalhaven River is a brackish moderately sized creek with large salt marshes, mangroves and paper bark forests then 1.5kms upstream you will find steep slopes and bushland and a small waterfall upstream from that you will find large rock platforms and gully's and upstream from that you will find houses and urban areas next to a gully sized creek.
by signing this petition, you will be protecting not only rare native flora and fauna from invasive weeds and human activity but also a incredible place to get away from busy rushed modern-day life.
In 2026 A study from an intern at Nowra creek protection agency found that the area near Nowra creek had been illegally logged because there was no protection against the habitat or trees if the area was protected the illegal loggers would: Under Section 57 of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974, face fines up to 1 million dollars and 6 months in prison this is vital in protecting the rapidly decreasing habitats of native flora and Funa.
a list of the different biomes and sub biomes found at Nowra creek
brackish creek
salt marsh
paperbark forest
gum tree forest
mangrove forest
sloped bushland
freshwater creek
cliff faces
rock platforms
Medows
grassland

and many more

Nowra creek

and you will get free bragging rights
PS Nowra creek protection agency is just me and it's not a real company
