A household of 7 doing our best with rubbish and recycling food waste to dogs and chooks.Signing to support community members that cannot adequately hold on two weeks of rubbish. Weekly bin empty is common sense and will prevent dumping of rubbish elsewhere. Ratepayers should decide want they need.

We already give all fogo to chooks and goats and burn garden waste so will have no use for extra green bin. Being on a hobby farm and business owners from same address we do generate more waste with feed bags, pet food, cattle medication, machinery parts and waste etc. Already struggling in the first fortnight of fogo, not going to work at all for us, just makes another bitter reason to be disappointed in Baw Baw shire. We are very environmentally focused but this was thrown upon everyone with no consultation. Weekly pick-up of our already smaller sized red bins is essential or there will be waste everywhere or people burning it. Please consider the general population as this greatly affects their lives.

Putting organic waste in the green bin is a good move...However, switching to fortnightly general waste collection will negatively impact larger families, households with young children, people with multiple pets, hobby farms, and those dealing with medical/bio waste. This change will create real practical difficulties for these residents. At the same time, our rates keep rising every year with little extra benefit, we've essentially been given a small green bucket just to fill a bigger green one. It feels like a wasteful use of ratepayers’ money.

Now is the time to speak up! Every "respectful" email and phone call sends a clear message that this issue matters to local families. Real change happens when ordinary people take action together. Make your voice count! Encourage your friends and neighbours to do the same, and let's show this Council how important this is for our community. To cope with the reduced service, Council is now charging residents an extra $100 per year for an additional red bin. While rates continue to rise, we are being asked to pay more for a basic service we previously had. Many residents already compost at home or use their own kitchen caddies, so the supplied FOGO caddy feels like an unnecessary waste of money.

5624 2411 is the number you should call. They'll likely ask you to send an email or post a letter, so I encourage everyone affected to do the same. If enough people call and write in, it will be much harder to ignore the issue. I might even start to post my garbage to this adress '33 Young Street Drouin'.

If you agree, please call Council on 5624 2411 and keep the pressure on them.

Fortnightly general household waste collections! It’s not just inconvenient – it’s completely inadequate! For larger families This is not the standard we deserve in modern Australia!
