Imagine your 18 year old being forced on the street because you no longer are willing to support them. You can't do it can you? You won't do it. But that's what you're doing to kids who are in YOUR foster system. Through no fault of their own they have found themselves in our system. They do not have family support and yet when they are age 18 we tell them to go out into the world and make it on their own. 35% of those kids end up homeless and are going to witness and/or become victims of horrendous crimes, or turn to crime themselves, some will be Trafficked.. Why would we throw these very vulnerable kids into that world? The cost to do nothing is staggering. For human dignity it is the right thing to support. Find the money. Victims Assistance funds is a start. Let's put our focus and money on this very real, homegrown problem. My 7 siblings and I were one of your kids at one time, each one of us aged out . Through our own tenacity and a lot of struggle we made it. I would never wish that on anyone, especially a young, vulnerable, impressionable kid. Pass this bill, leave out the pork so all of the funding goes to the primary focus. These kids.
