Joyce Marie Beatty is an American politician and member of the Democratic Party, serving as the U.S. Representative for Ohio's 3rd congressional district since 2013. Born in Dayton, Ohio, she holds a Bachelor's degree from Central State University and a Master's degree from Wright State University. Beatty has a distinguished career in public service and academia, having served as a state representative in the Ohio House from 1999 to 2008, where she was once the minority leader. She also held the position of Senior Vice President for Outreach and Engagement at The Ohio State University. From 2021 to 2023, she served as chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. Beatty's career reflects a commitment to leadership, education, and community engagement.
