I want to make you aware of the rise in rental rates in the South Florida area. I reside in Pembroke Pines, Florida, and the management company that owns the property is raising the rent by 27%. This is an issue that is affecting many people around the nation. Laws should be made for rent control that stipulates how much rent increases per year. A reasonable amount should be no more than 5%. The rule of thumb is that rent is only supposed to comprise 30% of a person's monthly income. Raising a person's rent will make it harder to live; there will be no money to cover other living costs such as groceries, insurance, car payments, utilities, etc. Raising rent by 27% is not sustainable because people cannot afford it. It is unreasonable to increase a person's rent by $500 just because of the market value; when the market value decreases, rent doesn't decrease. Inflation has made it expensive to live. And now we have to deal with the major rent increases, which is outrageous.
