Frederica Wilson is a U.S. Representative from Florida, serving in the United States House of Representatives since 2011, representing Florida's 24th congressional district, which covers much of eastern Miami-Dade County. A prominent member of the Democratic Party, Wilson has a long-standing commitment to public service, including terms in both the Florida House of Representatives (1998–2002) and the Florida Senate (2002–2010). Wilson has been particularly noted for her advocacy on civil rights issues, gaining national attention in 2012 for her remarks on the Trayvon Martin case. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Fisk University and a Master's in the same field from the University of Miami. Before her political career, she worked as a headteacher, impacting education at the grassroots level.
