The Issue

for those who were here to read this since the beginning of this petition, i have finally escaped.

for now, i am no longer religiously abused by my mother, luckily thanks to ACS. i am in foster care, now with a therapist, sociotherapist, caseworker, and more so that i no longer have to be stuck in an abusive household.

but still, i deserve independence. for as long as kids have probably existed, many of us have been treated how i was, and legally, we're all owned.

for so long, kids have been taught and experienced such in the past. to become the adults to this day to truly believe in their mind that kids are property. that we're only profitable as obedient work-enslaved people.

a video here perfectly explains it deeply:

Why It Sucks To Be Young

this needs to stop. we deserve full autonomyincluding, but not limited to:

  • the ability to change our appearance however we like (whatever we like with OUR appearance is none of a parent's or anyone's concern. because we don't “represent them”. we are not them.)
  • the ability to hang out with anyone who isn't an obvious threat to us (bcuz we do know better by now, and if we don't, that's all thanks to our parents) as much as we can
  • even (gasp!) the right to free speech, including cursing, as long as it's not hate speech

we deserve to express ourselves and take care of ourselves without being punished. all of us kids deserve to be legally treated, if not seen, as free people.

you wouldn't rob an adult of their autonomy.

and for those who want to say "it's different", to go out of their way to even say we have inferior brains, and that "the brain doesn't fully develop until 25", here's:

a tumblr post explaining the harmful stereotype

yes, it's a tumblr post. but i think it definitely explains well most importantly the true intent behind that thought, secondly why it's not true, and why we should just stop.

i believe there should be a system where a previously abused child can find a home to be themselves in. to not be unnecessarily restricted by adults, to be independent, and simultaneously taken care of as necessary.

problem 2: CPS

and CPS should be able to take us there no problem.

they need to do better! they did nothing for my old situation; because they're not educated enough and sometimes, if not all the time, biased adults about abuse. it's a simple Google search!

meaning abuse, especially child abuse, can include:

  • religious child abuse & religious indoctrination
  • emotional abuse & overcritisizing or overworking a kid
  • generally going against a kid’s consent

problem 3: school.

the current U.S. education system of forcing kids to go to school and get indoctrinated with information most, if not all of us, won't use in our future is a problem and unbearable for many.

first off, as i said previously, forcing a kid to be anywhere is a violation of their autonomy. school should be a choice to make, and you cannot decide for anyone what's useful for their life.

and secondly, honestly, the U.S. school system should make the main education actually useful, fun and entertainingbecause a lot of the time, a human brain can't process information if we don't enjoy it. but let's not make anything corny like Flocabulary!

most of the school subjects they force on us COULD BE useful for some who want it for their future. but they definitely aren't subjects necessary to force.

so for an education reform solution, maybe we could:

  • make the main necessary subjects the things everyone needs to know for their future??
  • like how to be financially stable, how to live in this society, how to pay taxes, etc.
  • ask students what they'd also like to be able to learn

problem 3.5: discrimination & violence in school

there should be ZERO TOLERANCE of such!

if anyone in school authority (teachers, staff, etc.) is told by a student that they or someone else has either secretly been—experiencing discrimination or violence, or being discriminatory or violent—they should legitimately be LEGALLY OBLIGATED to properly end it themselves if possible, or call the proper authorities to solve the issue.

if there is open discrimination or violence occuring while school authority is around, they should legitimately be LEGALLY OBLIGATED to properly end it themselves if possible, or call the proper authorities to solve the issue. the second a student or any other person in school authority reports to the principal that they've failed to go by obligation, consequences should be made.

put them at risk of losing their job at the specific school, or as a teacher as a whole. something. something actually effective.

school authority should also teach themselves or be taught how to see the signs of discrimination.

for my two previous schools, both were and are still poor in procedure for such. i got discriminated DEEPLY as a black kid in my former school. latines being the majority there are allowed to say the n-word, wear our culture in their hair, and speak our language (AAE: African American English) with zero consequences.

and i know the damn system allows it on purpose. and i'm done with it. i'm ending it with this.

i want youth liberation for all in america, at least, and i know my city council members. for any government nerds out there, i’d like to know the decision makers i could convince the best. thanks.
