Call a referendum on the implementation of the 2015 Sex Education Curriculum for the Province of Ontario

The Issue

We, the undersigned call on Kathleen Wynne, Premier of Ontario to call a public referendum on the sexual education curriculum due to be introduced in September, 2015.

We feel that public consultation on the curriculum was insufficient, and have significant concerns about much of the material included.

We feel that the curriculum as tabled exposes sexuality to children far too early, and contains content, such as anal and oral sex, which is inappropriate and too graphic to be taught in the public school system.

We feel that this curriculum also impinges on parental rights to instill their system of morals and values, and is an affront to the religious values of many Ontarians.

We have further concerns as this curriculum was developed in part with former Deputy Education Minister Benjamin Levin, who currently faces seven charges related to grooming, possession, and distribution of child pornography.

The sexual health and education of our children is far too important to allow this curriculum to go forward without public consent; it is therefore imperative that the voices of Ontario parents be heard, and their approval be sought prior to this agenda being forwarded.
