Honor the U.S. Extradition Treaty, signed July 25 1997 and entered into force April 26, 2000 with the Republic of Zimbabwe, and extradite Walter J. Palmer of Eden Prairie Minnesota to stand trial for poaching if charged

The Issue

In the event that Zimbabwe officials charge or request custody of this man in connection with an illegal hunt in July 2015: It is important that the U.S. Department of Justice, the State Department, and the Executive demonstrate to the world that Americans are accountable to the law, and that privilege and wealth can not buy exemption from those laws, either our own or the family of nations to which we belong. According to multiple reports this man already plead guilty in a U.S. District Court to making a false statement to a Federal Agent in a 2006 poaching incident in which he illegally killed a black bear in the State of Wisconsin. He paid a fine and served probation, but clearly learned no lesson. We must show the world that we are accountable, that we are not above the law, and that we are not hypocrites when it comes to combating corruption and bribery. This is about Justice for Cecil, but it is also about sending a message that is more necessary today than it has ever been before.
