Public transportation is the lifeline for many individuals in our community. Personally, I see people everyday struggling to access basic needs, such as going to work, or making it to important appointments due to insufficient transportation. Our public transportation system is flawed and inadequate, leaving many of its passengers stranded and scrambling.

In the United States alone, around 45% of households lack any access to public transportation (Source: American Society of Civil Engineers, 2017). This number is mirrored in our local community. It's a struggle for those households to engage with society, remain employed and provide for their families. These individuals are a part of our shared community, and we should strive to make life easier for them.

We are petitioning our local government to enhance our public transportation system. By increasing the number of vehicles, expanding routes and extending operating hours, we can create a system that caters for the needs of all, increasing social inclusivity, and drastically improving the quality of life for many of our neighbors.
