We welcome the initiatives taken by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of introducing the new eligibility criteria for The Academy Awards, BUT we cannot ignore anymore the awful misrepresentation of success which takes place at the Oscars.

Every year, for generations, the hard work and unimaginable sacrifices taken by men, women and non-binary persons, irrespective of their race, cultural background or nationality is awarded with a statue depicting a white muscular male. It is time to stop associating success with white males and create an universal statue with which every gender or race can relate. 

We have to stop this injustice here and now and hope that our voices can be heard by an Academy which proved in the recent years that it takes action against the social injustice present in our society.

Only eliminating these archaic symbols, unfit for the 21st century society we can hope for a fitting world in which success can be obtained by anyone, irrespective of their gender or race.
