Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. (CPII) is an American film production and distribution studio that is a part of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group. Founded in 1918 as Cohn-Brandt-Cohn (CBC) Film Sales by brothers Jack and Harry Cohn and Jack's best friend Joe Brandt, CPII adopted its current name in 1924. It is one of the leading film companies in the world, producing and releasing numerous critically acclaimed blockbusters. The studio has produced several successful franchises, such as "Men in Black" and "Spider-Man", and has been recognized with many Academy Awards over its extensive history. Columbia Pictures remains a significant producer and distributor of motion pictures till this day.
