The Issue
We Love our State of Texas and as Texans we want to be proud of our state, and to be leaders in all ways. We want to set the examples for others to follow. Today, that is not the case in the laws and practices of Pet Oversight in Texas. The situations are out of control and will take serious measures to correct. This is not a matter of just Animal Control or Animal Cruelty, it is much bigger. The scope of the Pet Oversight issues in Texas are:
- Pet Breeding without control measures
- Puppy Mills
- Lost Pets and Resources
- Lost Pets and Auto Accidents, injuries and deaths
- Pet Owner Lack of Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Pet Over Population
- Pet Flipping (stealing pets and reselling)
- Flea Market Pet Sales with horrendous conditions
- Rescue Organizations
- Animal Control laws/support
- Animal Shelters (kill and no kill)
- Dog Fighting is huge in Texas
- Pet Abuse
- Pet Cruelty
- Pet Fostering and more.
There are tens of thousands of Texans trying to manage this horrible situation without support of state laws. We live these situations daily and do not expect our state representatives to have the same knowledge we do. Resolving these problems just cannot wait any longer. As it is, it could possibly take us up to two years to get on the agenda of special session in Jan 2023 to present a bill. We are asking you to sign this petition to ask Governor Abbott for the opportunity for us to present the reality of the problems to our State Legislators, if not in a special session in January 2023 but hopefully, after our data and documentation is prepared, perhaps in a uniquely scheduled session We will reach out to Governor Abbott when all of our documentation is in order.
Every year, the problem becomes bigger and more out of control
