The Issue

Growing up in South Florida, I've witnessed firsthand the transformation of our once lush landscapes into monotonous, cookie-cutter communities. Acres of vibrant land, teeming with life, have been razed to make way for soulless subdivisions governed by HOA rules. This is not just a personal lament but a collective struggle of all Floridians who value our natural heritage.

The Florida Forever Program has been a beacon of hope in preserving our state's precious environments. Since its inception, this program has been pivotal in safeguarding rural and natural lands from development, ensuring they remain untouched sanctuaries for our diverse wildlife. It's also vital for expanding the Florida Wildlife Corridor, a crucial network that allows our native species to thrive.

Unfortunately, this indispensable initiative is under threat. Florida legislative leaders are considering defunding the Florida Forever Program by 2026. If this occurs, the repercussions will be monumental, not just for Floridians but for the countless species and habitats that depend on our natural landscapes.

Reeling under pressures of development, our state runs the risk of obliterating essential land and habitats which are irreplaceable once gone. We are not just fighting for scenic beauty but for climate resilience, biodiversity, and the very character of Florida that many residents and visitors cherish.

Florida is not made solely of highways and skyscrapers; it consists of verdant forests, bubbling springs, and expansive marshlands that serve as the lungs and lifeline for our diverse ecosystems.

Concrete action is essential. We call upon the Florida legislature to continue supporting the Florida Forever Program with the funding it deserves. This act is not a mere financial decision but a testament to our commitment to environmental stewardship, securing a legacy for future generations.

Join in our effort to safeguard Florida's natural treasures. Protecting our environment is a responsibility that falls upon all of us. Let us ensure Florida remains the epitome of natural beauty.

Sign this petition to demand that Florida legislative leaders uphold the funding for the Florida Forever Program. Let's preserve what makes Florida unique and irreplaceable.

There are more ways to help. A simple google search would allow you to find your local representative. A quick email or phone call voicing your concerns would make much more of an impact than you realize. Another way to help is by showing up to town hall meetings and openly discussing topics regarding zoning laws. Florida is so much more than beaches and sun. Most the state has beautiful and unique landscapes which are unlike anywhere in the world. I don't know about you but I'd rather see beautiful sights like pine forests and sandhills than more HOA's and car washes. I'm not asking for money for any donations other than signatures and participation.Florida is FULL.
