Ban discrimination of natural hair!!

The Issue

To the Florida congressional delegation:

I will be speaking on behalf of many women and men majority being African Americans. By banning the discrimination of how we style or how our hair simply grows out of our head will put an end to the Eurocentric norms. It’s very degrading to say we have to cut our hair or style it like someone who’s background is not of our own because it doesn’t look professional in their eyes.

The hair of African descending people has always been viewed as a problem or unbefitting of a standard of beauty that is acceptable. This petition will prevent any more women or men like Kimberly Tigner from being humiliated. People of color children can go to schools and not be told they won’t be accepted because their hair isn’t accepted.

This petition will do the community great by allowing justice to be brought if an employer or school denies an individual because of the way their hair grows out of their scalp. Professionalism was, and still is, closely linked to European features and mannerisms, which entails that those who do not naturally fall into Eurocentric norms must alter their appearance drastically or permanently to be deemed professional. California has already taken the lead to banning hair discrimination, so let’s join them to make getting jobs and keeping them a lot easier.
