Enough Is Enough: Demand Action from Katy ISD to Protect Our Students

The Issue

A deeply troubling incident occurred at Taylor High School (Katy, Texas) in which a male student physically assaulted a female student. This act of violence is horrifying on its own, but what followed is equally unacceptable: instead of protecting the victim, the school imposed equal disciplinary measures on both students—an outrageous example of victim-blaming and institutional failure.
Even more disturbing is the lack of action by the teacher or substitute in the classroom who failed to intervene, as well as the inadequate response from school leadership. The male student received only a three-day suspension, a consequence that does not reflect the severity of the attack. This weak response sends a dangerous message—that violence will be tolerated, and victims will be silenced.
We are calling on KISD, the school board, and local officials to not only take immediate corrective action in this case, but to commit to systemic change to protect all students. Our schools must be safe places—free of violence, free of fear, and free of indifference.
We demand:
• A full investigation into this incident and all parties involved
• Legal consequences for the student who committed the assault
• Accountability for staff who failed to act
• Immediate policy reform to prevent future incidents
• Mandatory training for teachers and staff on violence prevention and response
• Transparent communication with families and the community
If your own daughter had been attacked and dismissed, would you accept silence and a slap on the wrist? KISD has shown a troubling pattern of downplaying incidents rather than confronting them. We will not stand by while safety is compromised and justice is denied.
This matter is not going away. We urge every concerned parent, student, and community member to speak up, demand change, and sign this petition to hold KISD accountable.
Together, we can end the culture of silence and protect our children.
