Paul David Bettencourt is an American politician and businessman from Houston, Texas. He currently serves as a Republican member of the Texas State Senate, representing District 7 since January 13, 2015. Bettencourt succeeded Dan Patrick, who became the Lieutenant Governor of Texas. Before his tenure in the state senate, Bettencourt was the Tax Assessor/Collector for the Harris County Tax Office. He is also an accomplished businessman, having served as Vice President of Sales for Industrial Systems' Chemical, Oil, and Gas Division and as CEO of Bettencourt Tax Advisors LLC. Bettencourt holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University. Additionally, he is known for his work as a radio personality and journalist.
