Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages In Texas

The Issue

I believe that cities in Texas should join with several other American cities such as Biloxi, Mississippi; Key West, Florida; and Palm Beach, Florida; and ban the outdated and cruel practice of horse-drawn carriages. It is animal cruelty to force horses to pull great loads of people for many hours a day, especially in the intense Texas summer heat. Breathing in the exhaust fumes of cars leads to respiratory problems for horses and horse carriages run the high risk of getting into accidents with cars and pedestrians alike. It is time to show the country that Texas supports animal rights.
