Ever since the reopening of schools all across Ontario, students have been struggling mentally, physically and emotionally from the new expectations given by the Ontario Ministry of Education. Students that are returning to school are expected to learn 5 hours of instruction a day, 25 hours a week which varies depending on the city and school board. Not to mention, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the regular semester for Ontario Secondary Students was about 5 months. However, the school schedule has now been significantly decreased to every course being only about 22 days. This is a big difference in comparison to a regular semester prior to the pandemic. We completely understand that there are only 2 classes per Quadmester, but having such a large quantity of work given to students for a course in a short time frame is completely absurd, irrational and shocking.

After writing this letter to express our message we hope that schools all across Ontario really listen to us students and try to make a difference in our education system during this pandemic. Students are bright and have many great ideas to improve this platform and improve our education. To conclude all our thoughts through-out this petition we are practically begging to negotiate or even come to a mutual agreement on some changes to the Remote Learning and Hybrid Learning which includes;

We feel that we should have more time to take in and understand the material given every day. Requesting a reduced workload for courses (this allows students fewer workloads and more time to understand they will have a better chance at learning and succeeding in school which will be extremely beneficial in the future. Not to mention their mental and physical health will be much better which is what schools prioritize for students.
