CALL TO ACTION: Help Toronto, Peel and Ottawa Dance Studios Keep their Doors Open

The new restrictions put forth by the Government of Ontario, include Toronto, Peel and Ottawa dance studio closures. No other children’s activities or sports have been named in the additional Public Health measures. We are currently grouped with the fitness industry and not children’s educational and sport training. There is no reason why kids can train in hockey, soccer, martial arts, gymnastics, cheer etc., but not dance. This impacts children greatly. By taking away their access to training and development, it negatively affects their physical and mental health.

By mandating masks during class, integrating distancing with personalized 2-meter grids, and high-end sanitation in the facilities, local dance studios have made it safe for their dancers to return to the classroom. To close them down now is unfair, and is targeting an industry that has not been identified as high risk by Public Health.

We understand the importance of helping to decrease the curve and impacts of Covid-19.  We believe our local dance studios have been diligent, not only in adhering to government protocols but have also surpassed other businesses that have remained open. We are confident that the dance community is doing everything in their power to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Please help save our dance studios!
