Equal Shared Parenting

Equal Shared Parenting

The Issue

Equal shared parenting is what parents all around the nation are striving for in the near future. The most common reason a parent is not given equal custody, is because one parent wants control and power over the other. By the state allowing the other parent to be superior to the other, they are hurting the children psychologically. Most judges around the nation claim they are interested in the best interest of the children, but how when they allow this?

The parent that is awarded primary custody, typically the mother, is now in control of not just the child but the other parent as well. Primary custody of one child usually ends up with one parent being alienated from the child. By granting both parents equal parenting rights, it keeps both parents on equal levels and eliminates the possibility of parental alienation.

In most states interference with child custody is illegal, unfortunately it is never enforced. It is our duty to stand up to the judges and prosecutors and speak up for the children being affected. The emotional and psychological trauma children experience due to parental alienation is astronomical. Children already suffer when a divorce takes place, but when you add fighting, contesting, and parental alienation it becomes much more damaging.
