The Issue

The U.S. Army made history when it finally removed the names of Confederate generals from its bases. Names that glorified slavery, white supremacy, and a war fought to uphold them. These changes were a long-overdue step toward healing and justice.

Now, former President Trump wants to drag us backward.

He's using legal loopholes and twisted logic to bring back names like Fort Bragg and Fort Benning—names originally honoring men who fought to keep Black people enslaved.

The excuses are thin: claiming the names now honor different people with the same initials doesn’t erase the harm or the message being sent. It's a betrayal of the soldiers and citizens who believed we had moved forward.

We cannot allow this.

These bases were renamed for heroes who truly represented American values: Black soldiers, women pioneers, Medal of Honor recipients, and others who sacrificed for freedom and unity. Reverting these names dishonors their legacy and reopens wounds this country has fought to close.

This is not just about names. It's about who we choose to honor, and who we choose to forget.

We will not forget.

We will not stand by while symbols of hate return in disguise.

Sign this petition to demand that the Army stand by its promise to reject Confederate glorification. We will not go back.
