The Issue

On September 4, 2021, our lives changed forever. A brutal assault in Point Loma left our dear friend and family member, Jae, with a traumatic brain injury and ongoing seizures. This event caused enduring repercussions, not just physically but emotionally, throughout our community. Despite this, the case remains unresolved.

After enduring years of uncertainty and hurdles, fresh developments have come to light. We were informed that critical video evidence, which was reportedly not received by the City Attorney's Office, had indeed been submitted by the detectives of the Harbor Police Department. This significant piece of evidence has now surfaced, bringing us hope yet again. It is unfathomable that, after such a long and painful journey, the questions surrounding Jae’s assault remain unanswered. A manifest of passengers names & ID cards to help identify was also asked to be preserved early on & has yet to be turned over.

Assault By Means Likely To Produce Great Bodily Injury, under California Penal Code 245(a)(4), is a serious crime deserving thorough scrutiny and justice. The consequences of a traumatic brain injury extend far beyond the victim, profoundly impacting their family and friends every single day. We are grateful for the robust support system of therapists and doctors that has sustained Jae through this challenging time, yet justice remains painfully pending.

Our community in Point Loma needs closure. We urge the San Diego City Attorney's Office and the San Diego Police Department to re-open Jae’s case with a diligent review of the evidence now available. We seek transparency, accountability, and most importantly, justice for Jae and his loved ones.

We appeal to the public, friends of justice, and fellow community members to stand with us in this quest for truth and resolution. Your signature represents a stand against unfinished investigations and a demand for the rightful application of the law.

Please sign this petition to ensure that those responsible are held accountable and that no stone is left unturned in the pursuit of justice for Jae.
