Justice for Bryan "Love" Jordan

The Issue

The Black Lives Matter movement has begun to peel back The scab off of the ugly sore that is the criminal justice system. Likewise, the petition is yet another example of how race, poverty, and resources can create the perfect storm for a wrongful incarceration. That example although referred to as inmate 218810, is Bryan Jordan otherwise known as “Love” To his family and friends. “Justice for Love” was a petition started by a group of supporters for love to help shine light on the justice being denied for an innocent man. After being arrested in 2005, Bryan was tried by a jury, found guilty of manslaughter, and sentenced to 45 years by April 2007. The states case was centered around the credibility in motivations of people close to ask detective Clarence Willoughby who was arrested shortly after testifying in Bryan’s case for stealing money from the confidential informant fund to pay “witnesses” to authenticate statements for illegal arrest. Willoughby‘s reputation and credibility undermines Bryan‘s conviction but more importantly, Willoughby was related to the victim and the only other names suspect information he intentionally omitted from any police reports. As to be expected, Bryan has filed many appeals to his conviction. Most recently, a right of habeas corpus in 2015 alleging the concept of Willoughby’s and ineffective assistance of counsel - Lawyer didn’t represent him properly. After a new investigation by attorney Arthur Ledford and private investigator Ken Novi, Revealed six witnesses that would’ve helped to prove his innocence. After a two day hearing before Judge Kwak, on October 1, 2018, in a 25 page memorandum overturned Bryan’s conviction and ordered a new trial. In short, kwak found, all 6 witnesses to be “credible and compelling” and believe their testimony undermined Bryan’s conviction and sentence. However, after hearing the states appeal, on 6/09/20, the appellate court of the state of Connecticut reverse judge kwak decision. (See Jordan v.commission, 197 Conn. App. 822) on 6/15/20, he requested our Supreme Court to look at his case, which was recently granted. The reversal of the decisions to Grant Brian another day in court has been received by many attorneys as a new course for. The reversal of the decisions to grant Bryan another day in court has been received by many attorneys as a new course for Habeas corpus jurperdence, A path never before seen. Because of that, “Justice for Love” Is drumming up support for law schools and clinics, I.e. Yale & Quinnipiac and agencies such as Connecticut criminal trial lawyers Association To file a amicus brief on Bryan’s behalf.Furthermore, signing this petition demands a new investigation into the actions of the police in the case. #BlackLivesMatter
