On January 26th, an assembly was held at Ironwood Ridge High School to discuss bullying and violence that had been occurring in the school district. Shortly after, there had been spikes in violence against POC (person of color) faculty members and students, specifically that of death threats and racial slurs. A teacher arrived in their classroom to see their whiteboard covered in disgusting derogatory and racist insults. These acts of bullying have caused the teachers and students to stay at home out of pure terror for their safety. Regardless of reports being sent, the school board has not done anything to ensure the students and teachers safety implying that the matter is simply “out of their hands.” The administration has also not said anything to the students, OR parents and have even tried methods of bribing to keep the matter in the dark. 

The students of Ironwood Ridge are livid with the fact that the school board is doing nothing to help their fellow peers and plan to stage a walkout February 2nd until the administration takes notice and resolves the issue.

This racial gaslighting has gone on long enough and the student body of IRHS believes that in this day and age of 2022 that this neglect is absolutely despicable.
