Advocate for Indiana to Become a Canadian Province

Advocate for Indiana to Become a Canadian Province
The Issue
I am a proud citizen of Indiana, a place I call home. But I have increasingly found myself longing for a government that prioritizes my welfare, and the welfare of its citizens, above all else. Recent changes in the United States federal government have underlined how little the government cares about its citizens. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Canada has stood firm in his resolve that Canada is a place governed by the people, for the people. This has led me to a radical thought: what if Indiana became a Canadian province?
The Canadian government's reputation for prioritizing the wellbeing of its citizens is notable. Canada consistently ranks higher on the global happiness index, indicating a high level of citizen satisfaction with governmental policies. Hoosiers could benefit from such perspective.
Economically, Canada is taking steps to integrate more deeply with their historical allies (The EU, Australia, etc.) while the United States is moving toward isolationism and stagnation. The US has been the leader of the western world for decades due to its stability, open economic policies, and deep ties with other western states. On February 28, 2025, the president and vice president of the US effectively destroyed the trust that western allies and neighbors had for the country. This will make us less safe, less powerful, and poorer as our allies and trading partners take moves to turn away from the US.
While this is a radical idea, and the process would be complex and unprecedented, it is a topic worth exploring. This petition does not propose an immediate action, but rather initiates a conversation that challenges our norms. It questions what we should expect from our government, and how we might achieve it.
Let us make our voices heard and initiate a dialogue about our future. Sign this petition if you believe in exploring the idea of Indiana becoming a Canadian province.
