There is no waiting period for a child when they are missing, especially in states with the amber alert. Usually we see media coverage in the day or so following, but when it is an adult, the waiting of 24 hours comes first, and that could mean the difference between life and death. The number of hours an adult or child is missing, is costly and one with grave consequences. Legislation could step up the alerts with a state and nationwide amber alert, and make it mandatory for each state to participate, and extend it to our adult population as well.
Families of missing persons usually know when there is something severely wrong. When a person suddenly does not call home, or has not been seen, these need to be taken very seriously. While the paper work is lengthy to file a missing persons report, it is pretty obvious that families can have that information filled out in minutes and have it ready for authorities, so they don't have to wait.

Please enact legislation to enforce Amber Alerts in each State, waiving the 24 hour waiting on adults, and further implementing a plan for wireless alerts to cell phones statewide.
