ASEAN

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is a regional intergovernmental organization comprising ten Southeast Asian countries, which promotes political, economic, and cultural integration among its members and other Asian nations. Founded in 1967, its founding members included Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, while Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia joined later. With a combined population of approximately 650 million, ASEAN aims to accelerate economic growth and social progress, maintain regional peace, and foster active collaboration and mutual assistance on matters of common interest. Experimental collaborations among its members involve agriculture, industry, trade, air travel, and education.
