Morrison park is a fantastic spot! It's within walking distance for me and my 5 kids under 6. Having a place to let them run their energy out is vital and is a great asset to the community.
Born and raised in Sac, was so stoked when I found these jumps when I was 13 and made many memories here. It’s a huge part of Sacramento bmx and mtb history and current community. Sac wouldn’t be the same without it and the community that gathers at this specific hub would be gone. Big shame to have these demolished.
Please allow these to remain for many years to come!
These trails are a result of many hours of work by riders that care about adding to the sport they love. Having a spot like this is life changing for aspiring riders and inspires riders to create more spots like it. Save this spot; it is a gem and there are very few spots like it!
One of The most legendary trails I’ve ever been to so many memories here and very well known in the Bmx community a lot of insane legendary and famous big name Bmxers come to these jumps in Sacramento I’ll drive 3-4 hours just to ride this gem the locals who made these jumps are like family everyone in the Bmx community is like family super humble super chill awesome vibes always a blast to ride with and they’re absolute shredders it would be very sad to take these jumps down after all the hard work blood sweat and tears and years they put into these jumps is insane just the thought of even thinking about taking this place down is foul and depressing they wouldn’t know how bad it would impact us in the Bmx community
These spaces are very important for young people. I remember “jumps” growing up in Sacramento. They serve both social and athletic areas not to mention a much needed escape for young people. Please consider leaving this space as it is for the community.
Is there not a way to both preserve the BMX Park and create a new Bees Lake Park at the same time? Can it not be both/and instead of either/or? I first saw this reported on one of the local Sacramento TV news stations (I think it was KCRA channel 3, not for sure on this) and immediately hoped that the City of West Sacramento government would work with those wanting to preserve the BMX Park instead of getting rid of it. The City might have taken the land the BMX Park was already built on for eminent domain for the setback levee improvement project, but not keeping the BMX Park as the new Bees Lake park is built would definitely be a loss, in my opinion. In the news clip they showed kids using the BMX Park and enjoying themselves, and that included kids who were riding non BMX-style bikes as well - in other words, any kid (or adult for that matter) with a sturdy enough bike and other necessary equipment could potentially enjoy themselves - enjoy being outdoors, get physical exercise, etc. - at this BMX Park if it is kept. It just seems to me it would be a better park overall if the BMX Park could be saved and integrated into the new Bees Lake Park. If insurance costs are one of the factors involved, that's probably a tough one. I don't know the challenges involved with keeping the BMX Park, but I hope there's a way to do it.
This is a safe space for children and adults alike to spend time doing something they love. We need more of that in the world we live in today. Don’t take away something that means so much to the community
