I’ve personally seen times where friends have needed to talk to someone about things happening at home. Sometimes I’m the person they talk to, sometimes it’s a counselor. Sometimes they ask me to bring them to a counselor because they are scared. We can’t have this passed because I know that if this had been passed a few years ago, some of my friends wouldn’t be here today. We NEED this to be changed
I strongly support the RAPZ tax in general and believe that organizations in Cache Valley that have musician members should be incentivized to hire local musicians, so that Cache County taxes pay Cache County musicians, not musicians from Ogden or Salt Lake. Those out of county musicians can find paying gigs in their counties and not push us out of jobs, just by virtue of being "out of towners". We local musicians are happy to audition to prove our ability if need be! But as it stands now, no paying organization in the county is holding auditions. They just hire whomever they please. So a lot of taxpayer funds leave the county in the pockets of outside musicians.
I'm a local professional musician in Cache Valley that would be directly impacted by this petition. Local professional musicians are often over looked to play in summer Opera gigs.
Sneaky legislation like this with unproven technology is a violation of our rights. We do not want to be the guinea pigs in this. It might be a great energy source or it could be the biggest and most catastrophic mistake. I'm not willing to gamble our lives, homes, and neighborhoods, for big tech companies to have more affordable power.
