Job corps helped me and my family. My family and I were living in an abusive situation and by joining job corps I was able to start my welding career. Less than a month after completing the program, I got a well paying job and my family and I are now able to live independently. Job corps has been so incredibly helpful and I don't know where I would be without it.
Job Corps isn’t the best, but for a lot of people at these centers, it becomes their second and only chance at a job that doesn’t exploit them by paying them a menial wage, or keeps them from living on the street in squalor. There’s a lot of wrong that comes from Job Corps, but its major impact is why it’s so crucial for the youth of America.
My son just joined job corps at the end of April. He was just getting used to gaining skills responsibility and a skill when he heard today Job Corps might be shutting down.
He is scared and sad. College is expensive and we dont know how long he will get skills to live as a productive adult.
Please keep job corps open. Many thousand of other sons and daughters need it.
I stayed in an abusive household for 18 years and was finally able to leave for job corps. And through the advanced program I’m supposed to take here I can guarantee my place to stay and not have to move back in with my family. I need this for my future and for my little brother too. So we can finally feel safe without worry. And who knows how many people after us will need this to finally escape their abusive home life.
I am a student at Job Corps. This school has been a great opportunity and saving grace for me since being here. The friends, the knowledge, the social aspect of it all! We need this program to stay.
When I had no place at home, I found Job Corps. I made friendships I look back on too this day, had experiences that I still relish, and learned things I never knew.
Job Corp gives people a second chance or helps those who want to choose an amazing career path and teach them knowledge that will be used throughout our lives.
Job Corps has helped me improve my life. Thanks to this program, I was able to earn my high school diploma, and I'm about to finish my trade. I really want to finish it and get my other certificate. This program is so great for young people who want a second chance and to get ahead.
I'm a 1996 Guthrie Job Corps Graduate. To hear the government is shutting down job Corps Centers nation wide is devastating news. Don't do this to our young men and women of the future. They need this program just like I needed years ago. Think of the negative impact this will have on them. PLEASE RECONSIDER PRESIDENT TRUMP! PLEASE
