TNR, or Trap-Neuter-Return, is a humane method for managing feral cat populations by trapping them, spaying or neutering them, and then returning them to their colonies. This approach aims to control the cat population without resorting to euthanasia. Petitions related to TNR focus on advocating for local governments and communities to implement TNR programs and support the humane treatment of feral cats.
Many petitions highlight the importance of TNR in controlling the feral cat population, reducing the spread of diseases, and improving the overall well-being of these animals. One notable petition calls for increased funding for TNR programs to address the issue effectively. By supporting these petitions, you can contribute to protecting feral cats and promoting humane solutions to manage their population. Join the movement to make a positive impact on animal welfare through TNR initiatives.
I am a former NJ resident and part of a TNR program in the city I lived in and had a small colony that I took care of. I was a NJ resident when this bill first came around. I supported it then as I do now. Community cats need help! And also the advocates for them.
TNR works! I did it years ago in my neighborhood at my own cost. Keeping animals from being born in the wild is a lot easier than trying to keep them fed and healthy.
As a former long time resident of NJ I see the extreme need for low cost spay/neuter. It is so expensive to care for a family/pet. Help with spay/neuter would reduce the animal over population.
I have witnessed how a TNR program provides a reduction of ferrel cats on my own property. I believe that a campus surrounded by rodent infested fields could only benefit from a natural IPM (integrated pest management) program by having a few mouser’s hanging around.
