We have now surpassed 1,500 signatures, and I am incredibly grateful for the continued support from this community.
At this time, community cats are being trapped and brought into the Lee County Animal Shelter. While some local rescues have been able to intervene, their capacity is limited. With kitten season beginning earlier each year, these already strained resources will soon be pushed beyond their limits.
This is not a sustainable or humane solution. A Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) ordinance offers a proven, effective approach to reducing overpopulation while treating these animals with compassion.
I have officially signed up to speak at the Lee County Board of Commissioners meeting on April 20, where I will be advocating for the implementation of a TNR ordinance.
I also invite anyone who is able to attend the meeting and stand in support. One voice can be overlooked—but a room full of voices is much harder to ignore. Your presence can make a meaningful impact and show our local leaders that this issue matters to the community.
