As a disabled person who lives with a permanent and life changing disability, I'm made to feel ashamed of being disabled by this current government, I'm made to feel alienated and that I shouldn't exist. Even my own MP couldn't care less, just tows the party line. Having a disability that affects your quality of life is not a lifestyle choice as some MP's have made comments within media and commons discussions. PIP is a vital aid to provide the support, adaptations, resources, etc that councils, social services and other resources refuse to or fail to provide and the only way to survive a disability and it's surrounding conditions is to adapt to survive. I am totally blind, I see nothing, just black as I say to people who want to know. I have 3 areas of brain damage, a spinal injury, PTSD, etc. It feels like a permanent prison sentence and when you get some MP saying you can do x, y and z without even thinking of logistical, practical and other matters as well as disability law, it just goes to show how we're thought of. This government treats people who can't fight for themselves like food for the masses, whether it's our elderly generation who fought for our country and taught us, inspired us, gave us confidence and courage and shared their lives with us who have been treated like they shouldn't exist by cutting winter fuel, just so MP's can CLAIM it for themselves! SHAME ON THEM!, or attacking disabled people. Hang your heads in shame, maybe one day one of you MP's might face a life limiting disability, or your partner, children, etc, to face a permanent and life limiting disability, then find out what we go through every day of our lives.
Both my Grandfathers and my in-laws died before they received their state pensions. It is disgraceful that the government then waste the money when it should be given to their family’s
I took early retirement to concentrate on my health. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer in October 2021. I worked solidly for 40 years and am entitled to a full state pension. It is highly unlikely that I will reach 67 to claim my state pension. It is so unfair that my wife will not be able to claim my pension. It is my money, not the government's. Furthermore, if you are entitled to a full state pension, you should be able to claim it early if you have a life limiting disease like I have got. I do hope that this petition is taken seriously by our
MPs.
My husband John retired early at age 55 and 1week after he retired he was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus, and despite having the operation he died 9 months after his diagnosis
My Dad died aged 45, having served in the navy for 7 of his working years including the atomic tests in the Pacific, yet all his contributions were lost to the system.
I believe that a working person pays quite a lot in taxes and other contributions throughout their life, which support the state. However, a pension is the part they set aside for themselves, which means it should be allowed to be passed on to other family members or people they trust—those close to them who support them. I believe that is fair.
Having paid full into the state pension scheme I would most definitely want my loved ones to benefit from that if I passed away. It seems unfair that 36 years of paying into it for it to just be absorbed by the central pot to never be seen again, truly unfair and unjust.
