We have all heard the news that Stamp Duty will be increased from April 2025.

Stamp Duty is a tax unique to UK; no other country holds its citizens under this tax. Rather than serving a specific purpose, the funds collected simply recirculate to the government.

I truly believe this tax doesn't possess a clear rationale, and it's time to question its existence. Your input in this is not purely for my benefit. Think about the future - our children and their children! Why should they inherit this!? Each and every one of us can do something to change this.

According to a study by PWC, stamp duty is "one of the most inefficient taxes", potentially costing the economy £3.1 billion a year (Tax by Design, 2011). Isn't it time that we as a society stand up and call for its elimination?

Let's all unite and get rid of the Stamp Duty. This is a moment to stand up for a fairer system, one that does not penalize individuals for working towards the security of a home. Alongside this, calling for more transparent and accountable use of our tax contributions is of equal importance.
