The city council made a bigger deal out of this than they should have, they say the people of Centerville oppose this but they never heard the voices for it, they only listened to the few anti voices, the meeting was packed with pro voices and 1 or 2 anti voices, its so silly that you can tattoo a face but not below the neck. The council controls what business comes to the city, they are just not open to this service. They lost their SMALL town feel when they let the big box stores come in. This is a business that you cannot order on Amazon, you should be willing to help this kind of service because they will be here after the big box stores are gone. some day those buildings will be empty and will be bigger eye sores than they are now. To do business in Centerville you need to be a bank, gas station, fast food place or a dentist office, just don’t ask the council to let you add any new services. My suggestion is raise the speed limit on main street to 50mph so we can get to Bountiful or Farmington faster to get the services we want. I’ve lived here since 1980 btw

"The city of Centerville" consists of who exactly? I love in Centerville and I have heard no voices be heard from actual Centerville residents who are against this business owner keep doing honest work. Tattoos are only allowed above the neck? Come on. I've had my eyebrows microwaved and that's considered okay, but if I wanted a tattoo anywhere else I need to leave my own city boundaries to do it because I'm suddenly "harassing up the mellow." Apparently I can only support my local businesses if they're making my face prettier or needing to go to Walmart or crappy fast food. Centerville should be better than this and thrive by supporting our local vendors in their skills and services. Women owned business doing honest work, I see no reason why she should not be allowed to continue doing her services, what she is already doing, 'anywhere below the neck'. What is this Footloose?

It’s a shame. “Historic Main Street Centerville” consists of a junior high school, fire and police stations, a city building, a pizza parlor, several soda shops, a health center, a defunct gas station, a historic building, a small park, a salon, and oh yeah, Bare Body Wax Co. Right on the corner of Parrish for everyone to see. The council said they’d like to “find” a place to help Nicole out. Where she could have her business. Like on the frontage road? Where those other naughty businesses are… Like, The Tee Box, Young Powersports, a car dealership, an auto shop, a propane company, etc. It’s nearly offensive. I wonder if Wilkinson knows what they do at Bare Body? Below the neck and waist. “Hey mom, can we stop at Papa Murphy’s and grab a slice and then head next door for a nether-region wax.” I wonder if Wilkinson had to ask that business owner 3 different times what that means as he did Nicole, after a couple council meetings, a very thorough presentation to explain fine line tattoos. At the end of the meeting he once again acted lost and confused. Or incompetent. It was silly. They paraded brother and sister so and so up to the mic (literally called the council member “Sister,” and was responded to accordingly. Yet this isn’t really about tattoos or values. It’s about zoning. Right. It’s just a matter of time. How rude was it for our Mayor to continually ask the same damn questions. Multiple others who approached the mic gave simple, succinct, explanations of what fine line art is. So, Mr. Mayor. These tiny, stenciled tattoos cover scars, allow individuals to celebrate milestones (like surviving cancer and mental health issues, and are permanent (stupidest question of the night - seriously. “Nope, Wilkinson, not permanent. These are fake, erasable tattoos, like the ones you can buy at your Walmart in a vending machine for 25 cents.” What a dork. That’s why you’ve held these meetings, to talk about temporary tattoos? Literally was his last question. This was before he and another council member spoke in detail about the repercussions of bringing in such a naughty business. Including chastising personal comments, even calling the individuals out. Was this to make you feel bigger? It made you look stupid. Your job is to represent the citizens of Centerville. All citizens. This was dead from the start. If the Master Plan is really your concern, then maybe you should focus on cleaning up “Historic Main street.” Every now and then you might see someone walking down the sidewalk. I’m happy to now know that no one will be able to see all those people with large, colored tattoos on them (moms, dads, the mayor’s own police force, etc) go into Nu Trends and get their hair colored and not have to deal with “whatever goes on in that back room.” Tisk Tisk

This is so sad that the city council is so worried about citizens getting tattoos. It shows you how they think about people with tattoos. They’re communicating that people with tattoos are lesser than them, because they have a religious agenda to push. You were elected by the people and you’re pushing your people away from Centerville with decisions like this. Sad day. What does someone doing tattoos on an arm inside of a salon do to Main Street? Brings more people there. People aren’t going to stop spending their money on Main Street because she’s doing these inside a salon. They are going to start going other places and spending their money elsewhere.

What people do with their own bodies should not be controlled by any level of government, the councils fear of attracting the “wrong kind of people” is ridiculous and a cowardly show of past ideals and religious practices. The kind of people you should want are people who don’t force their own agendas and values on others but instead celebrate and accept everyone regardless of their choices. Just because people have the option to choose to be tattooed or give tattoos doesn’t mean they deserve to have their body policed or shamed and it won’t encourage or discourage anyone from doing what they want, they will just take their business elsewhere. These are our bodies you can’t take away our freedom

This is completely absurd. They way the city is rejecting this due to their religious beliefs on the stereotype they have of what tattoos make a person.. Also, you’re worried about Main Street?! There is nothing historic or charming about it. That’s a problem I’d love for them to work on. Charming structures, with local businesses only. We’re sick of the soda shops, gas stations, car sale lots, and fast food they keep letting in! ALSO, the contradicting statements they make about what type of people it would bring in.. yet they’re not worried about what type of people Walmart has brought in, or expanding the 4th of July celebration to a county size event where “that type of riff raft” gets brought in where we no longer run into friends, family and neighbors.. Interesting.. Where is the separation of church and state? Where are the leaders that listen to ALL people? Not just the ones they agree with? “Slippery slope”? To what?? The reasons why you don’t want it is discriminatory. There’s nothing wrong with a person who has a small tattoo nor tattoos over their whole body. I’ve know GREAT people who are covered in tattoos and terrible people who have none. Open your minds to 2025 people. Good people are everywhere and that’s not determined by those who do or do not have tattoos. It’s their choice. Not yours.
