Warner Pacific was never perfect. There have always been issues with the schools finances for as long as I could remember which is common for a school such as Warner. My concern stems from the fact that it seems Warner Pacific continues to shred its academic course and major offerings in an attempt to be relevant to today. In less than 10 years it has eliminated majors in the social sciences, ministry, humanities and music department to name a few. By eliminating these programs Warner has strayed from what it has done well. If Warner Pacific is to continue to exist, it must go back to the things it has done well and be student centered if it truly wants to thrive.

I was at Warner for 17 years, primarily as a teacher. These were brilliant years, especially since healthy relationships between students and teachers were the most important part of what we did in those days. But those days are a thing of the past. I was on the search committee for Johnson, and he duped us all. What he said was the total opposite of who he was and what he did. Johnson is not a leader; rather, he uses positions as stepping stones to "bigger"positions elsewhere. I do not trust him in any way. He should have been let go years ago. Finally, this man initiated the largest revolving door that Warner has ever experienced. Dozens (and probably hundreds) of good teachers and staff members left the school because they could not stomach his incompetence and lack of kindness. My only hope for Warner now is that this man should be fired immediately along with his "bobblehead board of directors." Warner needs to rediscover itself, but to do that they need to take time to look at their history and start fresh and pure. I hope it is not too late. Sincerely, Dr. Bill Dobrenen

This is something a peer of mine shared that made me want to sign this petition: "I wanted to share my perspective on Dr. Johnson's hiring process, mainly from my time in Student Government during the 2020-2021 academic year. As student leaders, we met with the Board of Trustees several times to discuss what the Warner Pacific community truly needed in a president. From the very start, it was clear that the Board’s primary focus was on selecting someone who could secure funding rather than addressing the broader needs of our community. One aspect of this process that has always stayed with me was the listening sessions the Board hosted with hiring consultants for students. Unfortunately, those sessions often felt dismissive of student concerns about the president's role in shaping the Warner Pacific experience. Several of us, including myself, spoke directly with the Board Chairman at the time, Mr. Moreland, to voice how the consultants had disregarded our input. I distinctly remember Mr. Moreland assuring us that the Board understood and would seriously consider everything we shared. However, as the process unfolded, it became evident that this was not the case. When the final candidates were selected, they met with the student leadership team. Many of us expressed concerns that Dr. Johnson did not seem like a good fit for Warner Pacific. Another student leader and I just Googled Dr. Johnson (and the other candidates) and discovered the petition from Tuskegee. This information was readily available, meaning the Board should have known, but they dismissed all student leaders' concerns, reiterating that they knew what was best for Warner Pacific. While Dr. Johnson is undoubtedly responsible for many of Warner Pacific’s current challenges, I believe the deeper issue lies with the Board of Trustees. Their focus on performative diversity and securing funding ultimately drove their decision-making at the expense of the students and the broader community."

I worked at warner pacific for about 2 years and the way admin handled certain situations or silenced those who spoke strongly about them was appalling. They often spoke of students like they were mere numbers and didn’t have individual struggles or stories. They never bothered to show their face around campus in fear of being confronted and they even attempted to smear those who spoke out against them, students and faculty included. I was in countless meetings where admin only showed up for a picture or just gave a PR speech about our “calling”. They never stayed for the real conversations and often declined anyone who wanted to speak face to face about these issues. Students became neglected, title 9 cases were ignored, sports and educational programs cut, and students dismissed for “violating the university’s policies” (which weren't updated since 2015). Numerous dedicated staff and faculty have had to depart due to the vile words that have been spewed at them and about the students to them. This college is being run into the ground and it is all being led by Brian Johnson.

I started at this college 2023… it was a mess from the start and continues to get worse. There priorities are not straight, I love most of the Faculty team here but to hear you were getting rid of the ones who influence students is upsetting. There are teachers here that have doctor degrees and treat students very poorly, make jokes about them, when ask for help they make you feel belittled. Taking away Cassie’s specifically is just baffling, a teacher who always welcomes you when coming through the door, a teacher who ensures to say “you are loved, you are wanted and I’m glad you’re here” as you exit her class is what a teacher is. Listen to what we need not what you want..

they should fix the uniform. some kids aren't comfortable wearing it and kids still get bullied for wearing this uniform. although it might help signify which students are which students when on a field trip i think the teachers should know their students already and just take attendance on the trip. the uniform isn't helping anybody. i would understand it if we had to wear it during gym or during a trip maybe but it isn't helping for safety, stopping bullying or anything else the school is trying to back this with.
