Rolling back DEI at SMU with NO COMMUNICATION in advance is appalling and has permanently damaged my sense of trust in university leadership as a gender nonconforming student at the university.
I've had friends that were part of the system when we were children. As adults, they finally exposed the abuse they experienced - mental, physical, sexual. The system that was supposed to protect them from their "home environment" exposed them to more abuse than the neglect they experienced in a home with a mother that was a recovering drug addict. Even more mental abuse than they experienced when they found their father's body after he took his own life. The "system" across the nation needs to change - these children should not be victimized by a system that is designed to protect them!
As an adoptive mother of two kids who spent time in foster care, I know how fortunate we are that our situation went fairly seamlessly. I know that's not the case for so many vulnerable children (especially those with special needs). The "syetem" everywhere throughout our country needs top down reform and accountability from day one that a child is placed in out of home care. I don't know the full extent of your situation, but I truly hope that there is justice done and resolution.
I've read many heartbreaking stories of lives affected by CPS child trafficking organizations. It's government sanctioned kidnapping, and seems to be largely ignored. Families being torn apart should be a last resort and not taken lightly.
Bridge city is just as bad with the bullying. I have a sophomore that is sweet as anything and if you’re not in every sport and good at it, then the students will just torment the hell out of you so she stays to herself and has no friends. she has a boyfriend and that’s it. It’s really sad because she Loved it when we first came here in the sixth grade after CO-Vid and she made many many friends, but they started dwindling after eighth grade 9th grade 10th grade is horrible for her and hell some of the girls that are doing the tormenting are ostracizing her their parents or grandparents work there so it doesn’t get any help from anybody so she just stays to herself.
I myself was bullied in school for my appearance and the clothes that I wore. It made it hard to go to school each day for that reason. No child should have to go through that.
