The ongoing crisis in the LoDo neighborhood has demanded urgent attention for years, dating back to the onset of COVID. Yet, the situation continues to deteriorate. What was once a vibrant, up-and-coming neighborhood - supported by new infrastructure and private investment - has devolved into a hub of open-air drug use, violent crime, homelessness and unsanitary conditions. RTD has reached a point where it is essentially unusable - a waste of billions of dollars invested in new infrastructure.
Residents are now facing bullets flying through their windows in the middle of the night - an alarming reality that underscores the need for immediate action. The data speaks for itself, and without decisive and immediate intervention, another tragic event is only a matter of time.
If this isn’t a top priority for the mayor and the Denver Police Department, then what actually is?
I was just in the store with my New Born getting things he needed. To think this animal could have killed me and my son along with other innocent people is sickening and he needs to be locked away for the rest of his life.
As a schoolmate of Jayda, it hurt so much to know it was her who was hit with the bullet that day. And knowing that Samuel Gizaw is still walking freely -probably feeling no guilt- still hurts. It hurts like hell to even think about her family when they know their baby won't come back home to them anymore. Jayda deserves justice, and so does her family. The fact that Samuel is still out here is disgusting and infuriating. Please, please, please get others to sign this petitions, especially if it will help other kids get the justice they deserve after also being killed by another youth.
May jayda rest in peace! My deepest condolences to her family! I didn't know the girl nor her family but I can't imagine how it feels to have lost a child! Unfortunately on new years eve a close friend has lost her son to va shooting as well this nonsense needs to stop! These children have so much to live for!
