I went to a school that unfortunately did not listen to our voices and after many instances, STILL does not. I can only hope your institution will, because a child’s death should be a strong enough reason to take things more seriously. Measures can prevent this as well such as stricter disciplinary policies. No child or parent should have to worry about these things while trying to get an education. Protect our kids.

As a student that graduated the school the Assistant Dean, police, title 9, and RA’s seem like they couid care less about issues happening at the school even small ones. I didn’t even once talk to to chancellor or school president on importany issues .I requested to meet with someone other than the assistant dean. I was denied this request for some reason and didn’t even once meet the president on these issues. It seems like if you request something the school just pushes it a side. Also it seems like the police or the Title 9 office don’t do their job effectively. It leads to people becoming hurt from these three offices and not be heard. As a resident also in the Alpine Village things were notified to the police, resident director, and assisted dean and things didn’t change. They just let things happen no matter what. My door’s lock got broken and nothing was done about. I talked to both of these offices and nothing came of it. The only one who seemed to care a bit was the RA’s who did my room checks. Even these people were ineffective while I was at UCCS. I had problems and nobody did anything the police or dean’s office even the residential director. Just meetings upon useless meetings that didn’t even go anywhere or benefited the student. I kept getting bambared with questions that eventually caused me to to not do my last semester in person. It seems like these offices only care about making money, collecting information, and then harming their students due to their actions. Also people would go into my room without my knowledge mainly the maintenance people. I got an email my apartment was flooded. They went in to fix it without my knowledge and at another time they did this too. I got emails that said should I allow them in and I said yess to a few. The apartment being flooded as well as other issues needing to be fixed was uncalled for. This breaches student safety and that the UCCS system needs to be revamped to make it safer.

I agree. It's sad that such laws don't exist. While some states or school districts may make an effort to screen people who enter their building, they often rely on systems that claim to do background checks, however, there are registered sex offenders slip past the screening, because despite being official registered sex offenders, they do not appear on the national sex offender registry. Several years ago I wrote a petition after my daughter's rapist return to our community and the public was not notified of his presence. I had hoped that my petition would prevent there from being another victim. But less than 4 years later, a second Brave victim came forward. The case for the second victim is still in litigation 3 years later, well the registered sex offender continues to lurk in the shadows, completely oblivious to the community. I Can Only Imagine how many other victims there may be that have not come forward. I also wonder how many other registered sex offenders must be out there that don't appear on the public registry. And tell her it's true transparency and the sex offender registry, all it does is provides a false sense of security.

Many students and staff are suffering or have to worry about the fires, there house may have burn down or the houses of families. And is not that students don't want to go to school, maybe there are parents like mine that don't let there kids go to school because of the bad air, and those students are gone fall behind and have bad grades, all because they actually cared about there well being, and is unfare. Imagine not passing a class because you take care of yourself that's is ridiculous. We need to make any tipe of consideration, we don't know what students are going through. Now if you care for your students and staff you guys have to hear us and make a change.

Akemi speaking: I agree with all the statements. As the fire got worse, schools opened and none of us stayed inside even. These things are taken more seriously elsewhere it seems. We need someone who cares. I love what this is about and wish everyone the best of luck, let's get this so called superintendent out and take steps towards a better future for LAUSD and its people (students, teachers, etc).

I am not yet a parent of a student. But I am a parent of 2 future students. This tragedy happened so many times in the small town in Florida I grew up in. Bomb threats every week, shootings, we just grew accustomed to it. But I am here to say, I moved here to get away from it. This shouldn’t be normalized. It is a great tragedy and things need to change

I just read a mom’s post where she contacted the parent of the girl who was bullying her daughter. The mother of the bully laughed at the message. The bully’s mom laughed at the fact that this poor girl is laying in a hospital bed. Kids end themselves because of these situations and this girl tried to do that to herself. Please take care of this bullying problem before someone loses another child over it.

My granddaughter was bullied at Allen Park High School when she was going there. This one group of girls continuinly body shamed her and wouldn’t let her sit at their lunch table. When I asked her what she did about it, she said she ate her lunch in the BATHROOM! When she told me that, my heart broke for her but I promised her I would not go to the school to report this as that would further humiliate her. She now is an RN / midwife, and has a very handsome husband. She had surgery for weight reduction and it worked very well. Both have great jobs and they recently bought a beautiful home in White Lake and had 2 beautiful babies. I wish she would look these girls up and tell them: How do you like me now?

My child is a kindergarten at one of the Allen Park elementary schools, I hope change makes its way through this city. I hope policies are updated and staff/coaches/teachers can work with parents and students to help prevent bullying.

Bullying has been an issue at APHS for a long time. I was there in 01-05 and experienced bullying that severely impacted my life and self esteem. It was extremely hard to get anybody to listen or do anything.
