School issues are a pressing concern affecting students, teachers, and parents worldwide. From overcrowded classrooms to inadequate resources, the challenges within the education system are varied and impactful. Recent trends such as the transition to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic have further highlighted the need for addressing issues like access to technology and mental health support in schools.
Petitions under this topic address a range of issues, from demanding increased funding for education to advocating for inclusive and diverse curriculums. One petition calls for better mental health resources for students, citing rising rates of anxiety and depression among young people. Another petition focuses on reducing class sizes to improve student-teacher ratios for a more personalized learning experience.

I signed this petition because a moody bus driver closed the doors on my then 3rd grader, that left him pinned half in, half out, and dragged to the other side of the side street, while holding on for his life. He has ongoing issues due to it. Things like this should never happen to our children. There should be sensors in the door and stairwell as well, that arm and don't allow the bus to move unless cleared. Our children are our future.
We are homeschoolers and I am surprised to learn today that a school bus doesn't have these basic features in this age and time. This is unacceptable in so many ways. I am sorry for Emory and many like her who didn't deserve this. Hope this law is put in place ASAP.
I was a school bus kid in Texas for all of elementary and middle school. It should be a safe place of happy memories, not something so dangerous a child lost their life in a manner that is preventable. Common sense steps must be taken to keep children safe.
Every child deserves the right to have safe transportation to and from school! These safety features should not be optional! In this day and age, it is ridiculous that not every bus is outfitted with these affordable safety features. Let’s get the law passed in honor of Emory.
The was a preventable death. This family should not have to endure the pain and suffering of loosing their child. Small children cannot always be seen and we need to do better. Careless drivers are a problem as are distracted. Adding these features would help increase safety and perhaps save lives.
As a concerned parent and community member, I strongly support mandating essential safety features on school buses. Our children’s safety should be a top priority, and implementing measures such as seat belts, improved lighting, stop-arm cameras, and advanced braking systems can prevent accidents and save lives. School buses should meet the highest safety standards to ensure every child gets to and from school safely. I urge policymakers to take immediate action to protect our children on the road.
No child should have to fall victim to this preventable risk. No parent should have to endure the pain. We as a society should work to reduce the number of such preventable deaths and injuries as close to zero as possible.
When I was younger I was almost hit by a car coming the opposite way of the school bus and almost hit by the bus several times going to cross because you are supposed to cross in front of the bus not behind so that way other cars opposite can see you.
Basic safety for children just trying to come home from school is the bare minimum we should be doing as a society. Let’s pass this and make our kids safer and prevent tragedies like this.
