Every day people make decisions on where to live and work based on proximity to public lands, which they see as reliable places for fun, comfort, and rest. People expect that these places will always be there for them. The city of Santa Fe has an obligation to protect our limited public space.

Without her we could not survive. Humans have mistreated her for far to long. The Earth belongs to everyone. We must also consider the animals, reptiles and insects who cohabitate with us. Its there home also. Lets us also not forget the solace and peace that we find when venturing into raw mother nature. Once nature is paid over, that peaceful, nurturing energy is gone....forever. Hawaii is a prime example. And unfortunately there are many, many more around the world.
I am a third generation southern Californian. My grand father was an Orange grower here in Orange County. Orange tress stretched as far as the eye could see. Strawberry fields were everywhere. Open land existed. No more.
It just breaks my heart to see what has happened to this once tranquil area. And I speak for all of southern California.
Putting profit and greed above preservation, conservation and stewardship of Mother Nature does not sit well with me.
Lets stop the madness! Lets restore Mother Nature. She is a powerful force and in a second can bite back. Lets take care of what sustains us - on every level - and respect her.

It saddens me to see open space and wildlife being destroyed. More traffic and pollution is the last thing we need. Please put a stop to this. Its the right thing to do. God bless our city!

I have lived in Orange for all of my life and am advocating for us to spread the word that we need to preserve what wild spaces we have left. If we hope to develop housing, then we ought to do it on land that has already been developed, not on intact wilderness. The hills of East Orange are not just grass and an occasional shrub; they are a unique biome called Chaparrel, one of only five in the world. This wild land offers us several services every day for free, whether we recognize them or not: clean air, sequestering of water to restore our aquifers, migration stopping grounds for hundreds of species of birds and pollinators, provide natural beauty and trails for local humans, provide cooling of nearby air temperatures, among several other benefits. Furthermore, development of more homes, concrete, and asphalt will add several disturbances: reduction of wild space for animals, loss of beauty, loss of water sequestration, pollution (noise, toxins, and light), increased traffic throughout all of Orange for residents, less green space access for locals. Whoever you are, please do what you can to advocate for the protection of these spaces.

It is complete hubris to say that every inch of the earth should be claimed in concrete and asphalt, and we must let all other life perish. Do not demolish this precious habitat. We are not alone.

What used to take 5 minutes to drive can add upwards of 25-30 minutes to my commute now. I also have seen what a detriment these developments have been to the local wildlife. It has forced animals out of their homes and into our backyards. This is not only dangerous for our pets, but for our young children as well. We only have one planet and it’s already being destroyed daily by most of us. I love the area I live in because it still has a glimpse of hope for our future generations and how they might see the balance and connection between nature and our wellbeing.

They do NOT take into consideration the wildlife, the land, or even the safety of the people who are supposed to live in these developments one day! Most of these new-construction developments, including Orange Heights, is to be built INSIDE a fire hazard zone, where a few years back burned a huge fire, that displaced wildlife, and would have burned down people’s homes, if they would have been built there. Irvine Company, I’m looking at you! How are you ok with placing hundreds of people’s lives in danger, and risk their homes burning down, by building directly in a fire zone?!! How are you ok with displacing our local mountain lion population, that is already in danger, due to lack of wildlife crossings (continuously getting hit & killed by cars) and possibly being completely eliminated from their Southern California home by 2050, if we don’t make changes NOW?!! Building a home development with a 20 year old environmental impact report is SHAMEFUL and, frankly, should be ILLEGAL! We all know how much our environment and climate has changed in the last 20 years! Shame on you, Irvine Company!! Save our wildlands, and #NoOrangeHeights!! ✊🏼✊🏼💪🏼🦉🦅🦇🐝🦋

Corporations may not care about wildlife, pollution, traffic, and overcrowding, but the people do. And this is not the type of housing the people truly need. Please rethink the benefits of this project vs the destruction.
