Just last week - at long last! - the mountain lions of the Santa Ana Mountains, along with five other mountain lion populations, were listed as a Threatened species under the California Endangered Species Act (CESA) by the California Fish and Game Commission.

A huge thank you to everyone who submitted a comment to protect our wildlife!

This new designation will have significant impact on the fight to save the Orange Hills. Save Orange Hills has documented mountain lion usage in the area slated for development by The Irvine Company. The original Environmental Impact Report for the project did not even consider the consequences of the development on mountain lions. Now the pressure is on for The Irvine Company to apply for an Incidental Take Permit for mountain lion if they continue to move forward with building, adding another level of discretionary environmental review at a time of unprecedented public scrutiny and support for conservation.

Please continue to follow this story and keep speaking up.  You are making a difference!
