This project would introduce high-volume truck traffic onto Kingsland Street—a road not designed for industrial vehicles and already known for accidents and congestion. According to NJDOT design standards, facilities with heavy truck traffic should have direct highway access. This site does not, and forcing trucks through residential streets endangers our families and undermines traffic safety principles.
This proposal compromises the integrity of Nutley’s planning goals, violates smart traffic design, and puts residents at risk. Please uphold the standards we rely on to keep Nutley safe and livable.
This site has a troubling environmental history, including a $17.5 million class-action settlement after toxic contamination from the former Hoffmann-La Roche facility impacted over 400 homeowners. Proposing new industrial development here — without full transparency or long-term health safeguards — is both reckless and disrespectful to those already affected.
The introduction of heavy truck traffic will degrade our air quality, reduce our property values, and erode our community’s quality of life and park system. Families should not have to live with constant noise, diesel fumes, or the danger of massive trucks near their homes and schools. Nutley deserves safe, healthy neighborhoods — not an industrial zone in the middle of a residential area.
To our elected officials and planning board, please listen to the residents who live here, who pay taxes here, and who raise families here. A mega-warehouse may bring short-term profit, but it will cost this community in the long run — in health, in safety, in peace of mind, and in pride of place.
I strongly oppose the construction of a trucking warehouse in Nutley near a residential neighborhood. This kind of facility belongs in an industrial zone, not next to homes, schools, and parks. The increased traffic, noise, air pollution, and safety risks from constant truck movement will seriously impact the quality of life for residents. It’s unacceptable to prioritize industrial development over the well-being and peace of a community. Nutley deserves thoughtful planning that respects its neighborhoods and the people who live in them
I am strongly against the usage of 275 Kingsland St. property as a warehouse. My preference is to take out concrete pavement and plant trees there with either a walking path or swimming pool in the middle. Loss of tax revenue for the town may be around $50 per household, which may be weighted by people living in Nutley in the referendum.
There is already enough noise in town caused by night racing on Rt. 3, airplanes from Teterboro and Newark airports and general traffic noise. Noise increase has a negative impact on health. Global warming may trigger reduction of trade which may leave Nutley with abandoned warehouse.
Removing concrete could increase water absorption and prevent flooding in the lower areas of the town.
