The Issue

As a long-time resident of Las Vegas, I've witnessed the increasing disturbance caused by nightly helicopter tours in downtown. These flights are more than just a moving spectacle in the night sky - they are a source of constant nuisance to us who reside in the area.

The daily display of lights and noise pollutes our peaceful residential neighborhoods. As per the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration, noise from aviation activities has the potential to adversely affect health and welfare of communities near airports and along flight paths ("Guide on the Side: Aviation Noise," U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration, March 2017). Unfortunately, in our case, it's not the airports but our own homes and neighborhoods that are disturbed.

The incessant noise jeopardizes our tranquility, affects sleep quality, and ultimately deteriorates the overall quality of life for thousands of Las Vegas residents. As per the World Health Organization, noise pollution can not only disturb sleep but also impair cognitive performance in adults and children ("Environmental Noise Guidelines," World Health Organization, 2018).

This is a call to action to all those who value their peace at home. Let's join hands to stop helicopter tours from flying over downtown Las Vegas neighborhoods every night. Your signature can make a significant difference and bring us one step closer to having quiet nights back. Please, sign this petition.
