I truly don't think they took into consideration the academic future of the students. What would it mean for these kids to have to move to an already overcrowded school? Will they have the same opportunities? Seeing as many electives have limited capacity and popular ones get full pretty quick. When it comes to sports, how will coaches make sure that each kid gets a fair chance at playing, if you have too many kids in a team? And so many more questions I think they never thought about. I really truly believe this decision is a huge mistake.

This school is home to my family and they would suffer going off to a surrounding school as the teachers workload would be too much with the extra kids and that would cause the children to suffer.

I care so much about my school. I know that most people do but Clara Driscoll has become that I never though I would have. They have teachers that TRULY care about our well being and not just our grades, this has changed me tremendously. Before coming here I hated attending school, but now I look forward to showing up and hanging out with my friends. I can't believe they are closing a school with such an amazing fine arts department. If you walk into our band hall you would see walls covered in trophies and certificates. I know to most people Driscoll is just a school that's below full occupancy but it is so much more than that.

I’ve been attending Driscoll ms for 2 years now and i’ve made such strong connections here with students as well as teachers. Shutting down this school is going to ruin those connections. Driscoll is the closest option to my house and is the most convenient. Plus, this is going to destroy a bunch of students mental health because they don’t have the friends and teacher that were there for them. please don’t shut down my school or at least wait a year or two. i want to graduate middle school without having to spend my last year in it without the people i wanted to graduate with.

Middle school is a tumultuous time for kids. Rezoning neighborhoods with short notice and moving students to larger schools, away from their established communities, is going to have a negative impact on their engagement and success. (Yes, including test scores ... .) Please consider Driscoll’s unique proximity to Redland Oaks Elementary School. These two campuses, connected by an athletic field, are a great asset for students. They were also primary driver for many of us who bought homes in this area because we believed our kids would be able to walk to both elementary and middle schools, and we knew we could coordinate transportation to both easily. It also makes geographical sense for an education-focused magnet school (which would feed into Mac), and allows the amazing Driscoll PALS to take a short walk to volunteer with younger kids -- deepening community and leadership. I hope you will consider saving Driscoll and exploring alternate options for the impacted families. If not, please allow the families at all of these schools to have open school choice to select the campus that works for them -- instead of rezoning us to a location that does not work for our family.
