The topic of Native American issues encompasses a broad range of petitions addressing the rights, welfare, and recognition of Indigenous peoples. From advocating for tribal sovereignty and environmental protection to challenging cultural appropriation and systemic discrimination, these petitions shed light on the ongoing struggles faced by Native communities.
One petition gaining traction highlights the fight against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline, emphasizing the impact on sacred lands and water sources. Another petition calls for the removal of offensive stereotypes in sports teams names and logos, citing the harmful effects on Native American representation.
By exploring and supporting these petitions, individuals can stand in solidarity with Native Americans and contribute to meaningful change. Join the movement to amplify Indigenous voices, protect ancestral lands, and promote cultural respect and understanding. Together, we can work towards a more equitable and inclusive society for all.
I support Duwamish sovereignty. Treaties are supposed to be the supreme law of the land, and the U.S. has trampled on Native nations' treaty rights since its inception. Federal recognition honors the nation-to-nation relationship the Duwamish Tribe always has had with the U.S.
How can we accept the further neglect of an individual tribe? Must we deny their existence as a tribe? What harm is there in indulging this small request? I think that the simple truth is that pettiness and infighting has delayed this recognition far too long. Please recognize the Duwamish!
Do the right thing and Recognize the Duwamish People! They have been the stewards of the land since time immemorial! They deserved to be honored and their treaty rights met!
It is appalling to consider the actions and inactions of the settlers who struck treaties with the original inhabitants and then refused to carry out their side of those agreements. The Duwamish people have been disrespected enough. It is time to do what can now be done to set this matter to rest. I applaud all who take action to set the record straight and make our collective futures better.
As a native, I hate to see that we are being erased, entirely, from history. This had been the logo for almost 100 years. It's not racist. None of us were offended by a native woman being on a package. We are offended by being erased. Our culture has already taken a big enough hit, and before too long, there will be nothing left of us to show we ever existed.
Every day we as natives lose more and more of our people and as a near forgotten tribe we experience it harder than some and we can’t keep losing our things belonging to a country stolen from us.
President Biden,
Sir, please consider clemency or pardon for Leonard Peltier. I fully believe he is innocent of the crimes he was convicted of. The prosecutor on his case has even spoken out in support of Mr Peltier's innocence. The only reason he was convicted was the wrongdoing of the FBI in so many ways. Witnesses were threatened and coerced, evidence withheld, evidence "lost" or switched, ballistics even proved the gun supposedly used didn't match the bullets found in the agents.
Besides all the items pointing to a wrongful conviction, over 50 years have passed with him developing serious health issues. It's time for showing compassion and releasing him.
Thank you for taking this very important issue into your consideration. Please don't bow to the pressure of the FBI like former presidents have fallen victim to.
