As a child I grew up enjoying this area & its parks. I still do 50 years later. It's a shame to put in another road and loose this valuable asset & nature preserve.
Adding a public roadway through the park will include all the things that go along the road including: electric telephone poles, gas lines, water lines, possibly sewage lines. Percy Warner worked for utility companies for the majority of his life. He understood them enough to want to keep them out of the natural areas. Roadways and utilities certainly are not what Percy Warner wanted for one of the largest public natural areas in Nashville.
Put this situation in the point of perspective from the generous families that donated all of this land. They were trying to protect their beloved land from THIS EXACT ACTION. To put a road through these properties would be direct disrespect to their selflessness and charitable actions.
Percy Warner mountain bike trails are a destination trail system. People travel from all over just to ride the trails there bringing in probably millions of tourist dollars to Nashville. Percy Warner park is considered the #1 mountain bike trail system in the Nashville area. If you tear it down it will be a real slap in the face to the community and the rest of the world will definitely hear that! You should be expanding the trails including hiking and walking. The golf course just got completely remodeled
My family and I have enjoyed Percy Warner for over a decade. It was a great call to close the 5.8 and much of the 11.2 to car traffic to let people enjoy the park safely--this proposal would jeopardize that while also ruining an old growth forest that the city of Nashville could never get back. I sincerely hope that the proposal to cut a road through Percy Warner to benefit a private company is not voted through and that the Park and its natural beauty continue to be preserved for future generations!
As a lifelong mountain biker and having waited for Percy to have Mtb trails for more than 20 years only to have my favorite trail taken away less than ten years after being built. Please do not interrupt this beautiful park with a road!
Please do not disturb Warner Parks with a new road. The habitat and canopy the park offers is so crucial and Nashville is already losing too much of both. I use Warner parks on a regular basis and if I have to wait longer in my car to get access, so be it.
This park is a favorite when I am visiting Nashville. I live near Memphis and occasionally visit Nashville for family and biking. I would be less likely to visit if this kind of development becomes the norm.
We tried for years to get mtn bike access to Percy Warner when Hamilton Creek was our only trail in Davidson County. I have lived in Nashville almost my entire life and this park is a very large part of my experience here. The mountain bike trails are wonderful and have been a great addition to the park. They could alter the existing entrances/exits instead of infringing on the mountain bike trails.
these trails helped save many people's health. Becasue of these trails both adults and youth have dramatically increased in biking and enjoying nature and helped create a community that is focused on giving back and helping others improve their health
