LWOP (Life Without Parole) is a critical topic that addresses the issue of sentencing individuals to spend the rest of their lives in prison without the possibility of parole. Recently, there has been increased attention on the harshness and inequities of LWOP sentences, particularly for non-violent offenses or juvenile offenders.
Key issues highlighted in petitions include advocating for reform in sentencing laws, pushing for second chances and rehabilitation opportunities for those serving LWOP, and addressing systemic inequalities in the criminal justice system. Notable petitions have gained traction by sharing personal stories of individuals impacted by LWOP sentences and calling for legislative changes to ensure fair and just sentencing practices.

My boyfriend was 18 when he was sentenced to life in prison. He will be 39 years old this Halloween. He has spent almost 21 years in prison. He deserves a second chance just like all the other inmates who were sentence to life under the age of 21.
I was afforded the opportunity to regain my freedom after serving 25 years in prison, thanks to the juvenile law that fell in place for myself and many others.now I'm asking for legislation to pass act 539
I was once a prisoner for 18 years and I’m a living witness and proof of what a chance to prove a change is…. I became more cognizant, remorseful, sorrowful, and forgiving. Many men and women that have done time have done the 180 degree turn themselves.
I have an innocent son on Death Row for 30 years, we are getting ready for an Innocent Motion to be granted.
As like any family of friends of these type of sentencing, it's very hard.
Hang in there. Donna
I believe in second chances and I believe God created prisons for rehabilitation not a forever thing. My Son has been personally involved with this young man and first handily seen his rehabilitation and recovery from his mistakes and is excited to see him back into society flourishing. God bless this family and Brother and for second chances
This is not a case where someone should be denied the chance to prove their growth and redemption. Vardan Abramyan has spent nearly two decades taking responsibility, educating himself, and helping others heal. He deserves the opportunity to show the world the person he has become. Everyone deserves a second chance.
Everyone makes mistakes, and God gives us infinite chances so long as one fully repents. So why shouldn’t we give second chances? That is what God asks of us - to forgive as He forgives. Praying for your second chance!!
Vardan and his family are beyond caring, kindhearted, and welcoming. They support each other and those around them. I have got to know them all and love and support them. Vardan has dealt with immense trauma and has faced his actions. He has so much good within him that can be shared. I am in full support of his petition to commute his life without parole sentence.
I am signing this petition because I believe in second chances and justice that recognize growth and rehibiltation. My husband,David Johnson, has been incarcerated for 29 yrs. and is a inside organizer at Pelican Bay State Prison for the Drop LWOP Organization. He has earned a Associates Degrees in Social Services and Liberal Arts, multiple certifications - including Dog Training Companion Program - and has served of the chairman of the Zen Garden for 4 years. Most importantly, he is deeply remorseful for his past actions and has dedicated himself to positive change. It is time for those who have transformed their lives to be given the opportunity to return home to their families. JUSTICE SHOULD INCLUDE REDEMPTION"
