My kids don’t even attend public school, but as a community member I believe in the value of K-8 schools. The information and timeline on shifts/closures also seems to lack transparency and sufficient information. Pacifica has been on the up and up, it would be a shame to close down a school and reshuffle the existing ones.
All three of my children experienced the excellence of a Vallemar education! This is a very important element in the educational offerings of Pacifica. Please keep Vallemar a K-8 school!
Vallemar's Family Days are wonderful community builders. I know my daughter has benefited from having friends in the higher grades. We had to get on a wait-list for Vallemar and made that change because it's a K-8. Having it change would mean losing the documented benefits of a K-8 (vs middle school) notably, community, emotional safety (especially during the turbulent Middle School aged years) and the accidemic benefits of feeling safe and comfortable.
Every child deserves a quality education amongst their peers (preferably those in their neighborhood) Thrive, children with ASD are no exception. A measure of an evolved society is how we take care of our vulnerable (the elderly, our children, and those with mental disabilities).
